Project Updates

As of late July 2025, we’ve officially broken ground at Creekside at The Grounds – the first residential project and vertical development within The Grounds master plan.

Located along the newly restored Silas Creek and steps from Wake Forest University, Creekside is a fully furnished student apartment community designed for upperclassmen and graduate students. With 229 units and 521 beds, Creekside will offer high-end finishes, private bathrooms, a clubhouse with study rooms and fitness center, and an outdoor pool and entertainment area, all in a walkable, connected setting.

As the first major building to rise within the 100-acre district, Creekside marks a significant milestone in transforming Winston-Salem’s sports and entertainment district into a vibrant, year-round community. Residents will enjoy direct access to campus, The Grounds’ future retail village, and a growing network of trails and greenways.

Construction is underway, with move-ins planned for Fall 2027. Creekside is being developed by Carter and Front Street Capital, in partnership with Kayne Anderson Real Estate and Truist.

Transforming Infrastructure

Spring at The Grounds has us busy laying the foundation for a dynamic, walkable, and sustainable community. Our infrastructure work will truly overhaul the area, specifically through environmental restoration, enhanced connectivity, and pedestrian-friendly design, all creating welcoming new spaces and major long-term benefits for Winston-Salem.

  • Restoring Upper Silas Creek: Stabilizing stream banks, planting over 200 trees and 30,000 native plants, and creating a new multi-purpose nature path for visitors to enjoy, all resulting in beautiful places to gather and much-improved water quality, wildlife habitats, and ecosystem in general.

  • Enhancing Walkability & Connectivity: Expanding sidewalks, adding bike-friendly paths, and improving pedestrian crossings between Wake Forest University and The Grounds, reducing vehicle trips and promoting a more walkable city.

  • Reimagining Deacon Boulevard: Converting traffic lanes for better pedestrian access, adding new parking options, and integrating flexible spaces for events and retail.
