Public Sneak Peeks of New Multi-Use Trail
With construction still under way, The Grounds will host opening windows for the public to view progress from the multi-use trail.
Construction on The Grounds' new multi-use trail is complete as of August 2026, and this fall, the public gets an early look. During select major events in the area, the trail will open for sneak peek access, giving the community a firsthand preview of the connectivity improvements and construction progress underway at The Grounds ahead of its Fall 2027 opening.
Sneak peek windows include:
Wake Forest home football games, starting with the season opener on Thursday, September 3. The trail opens three hours before kickoff and closes 90 minutes after the final whistle, unless otherwise publicized.
Carolina Classic Fair, Saturday afternoons, October 3 and October 10. October 3 hours will correspond with the Wake Forest home football game that day. On October 10, the trail will be open from 1pm to 5pm.
Access points include gates at Piccolo Lane (east side) and University Parkway (west side), plus a new Wake Forest University gate at University Parkway and Faculty Drive, using the recently completed University Parkway/Cherry Street intersection and crosswalk.
Temporary security measures will be in place during each sneak peek. Visitors should follow all posted instructions and stay on marked, paved pathways. Outside of these events, the trail remains closed to the public until Phase I construction wraps and full-time security and maintenance are in place.
Drivers in the area, particularly around the new University Parkway/Cherry Street crossing, are urged to slow down, obey signals and safety personnel, and yield to pedestrians — foot traffic through this intersection is expected to be especially heavy on event days.
